"How you live your life is a reflection of how you view God"

The Two Roads to Heaven

There only really are two religions in the world.

They are…

The Religion of Human Achievement

Which includes all religions in the world that offer heaven for good works, morality, religious ceremony, or rituals. These religions, no matter what their labels are, involve what we do through works of the flesh and of our own merit. These religions are all about what we do to earn our way to heaven.

If you’re trying to earn your way to heaven your are coming by the way of the law and according to the apostle Paul you have no hope and are cursed.

“…because by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified in His sight;”
- Romans 3:20

On the other hand there is the…

The Religion of Divine Accomplishment

Which offers heaven to those who admit there is nothing they can do to earn it. If you come God’s way you come by grace and under grace there is no law. There is no way you can earn your way in. You have hope and the curse is removed. It is the true way of salvation where the sinner provides nothing. The true way is by faith in Jesus Christ, grace, and the life of the Holy Spirit.

This is a very simple contrast. It would be hard to imagine a clearer way to depict the choice the every person must make between these two ways to heaven. Although, the first way leads to hell none of it’s proponents are selling hell. No one is saying come our way to hell with us. Like the true way they both promise heaven.

The Narrow and Wide Roads

In the sermon on the mount, Christ teaches us about the narrow and wide roads.

“Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it.” – Matthew 7:13-14

Jesus paints a vivid contrast here between the false religion of the day and the true way he represented. The broad road he warns us of is not the path of the non-religious. Both roads are for the religious. Both promising that this is where God wants you to go to get to heaven but only one will get you there.

Jesus says that many will be deceived and enter through the wide gate.  They understand it to be marked “heaven” but only death and destruction are it’s destination.  He commands us to enter through the narrow gate.

Few find it but it leads to life for those who answer the call of Christ from the scriptures. It’s a call that requires an immediate response.  It’s a call without a reasonable alternative.

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” – John 3:16

So you have offered to the world two roads to heaven. One of lies that goes to hell. One of truth that goes to heaven.

Make your choice.
